About RedJack

This is my dad, Vic Barnes. He was a phenomenal photographer, and a pivotal inspiration for my own photography.

Welcome to RedJack Photography!

I am Jack Barnes, and I am a photographer. The guy in the picture above is my dad. He was a passionate and superb photographer. I got the passion from him, and work everyday to capture some of that superb part.

Sheryl, my wife, and I live in New Hampshire where we love the coastal life. Our daughter lives with her husband in Connecticut, just a couple of hours down the road.

Photography for me is many, many things. It’s a hobby, a passion, an adventure, a learning experience, a journey, and an art that I am convinced I will never be as good at as I want to be. There’s always a little better image to take. That drive to grow, and evolve, and make compelling images is what makes this journey so fun. The struggle and challenges make it all worth while when an image comes along that I’m proud of.

There is one thing photography is not for me (today) and that is a profession. I take images when the busy schedule of life, and work, and obligations allows me to do so. To that end I am not constantly updating RedJack. I shoot fairly frequently, but it takes the right time, the right scene, the right eye to get those images that, in my opinion, are worth putting up in the site.

Most of my photography is of the landscape and nature variety. I prefer to be out in nature. And I am a faith based photographer.

If you are interested in what I have going on or when I put up new images please subscribe to my newsletter. I will only send emails when new images are posted up. You can also follow Redjackphotography on Facebook. I post more images there.

Please, enjoy the site. If you have any requests or comments, don’t hesitate to contact me here.

Couple of site updates:

I am rebuilding Redjackphotography.com now, so please bare with me as that work progresses.

Several of my early images have watermarks on them. Some obnoxiously, some more subtly, and then many not at all. I am moving away from any and all watermarks but it’ll take some time to update the images. If anyone wants images, please know that the watermark can easily be removed and, in fact, that is how I want them.

Squarespace is compressing images. So these are not presenting precisely as I captured the image nor how I intended for it to be viewed. So, if some things seem cut off, or composed weird, but the image is at least interesting then please send an inquiry. For example, in the Maine gallery there is a shot of a double rainbow. The image is cut off on the right and left. I’ll work on figuring out why that is happening. In the mean time, know that I caught both sides of that rainbow all the way down to the water, which was very cool and I wish could be seen on the site.

I recently revamped this site. Many of the images on the old site can be found through the galleries page. If you don’t see an image you’re looking for, just reach out. I obviously have all of them on a separate drive.
